Transparency

A nice break from heavy alpaca fall scarves, these are a bit lighter-weight while playing on the subtle transparency dispersed throughout.  Technically, this is caused by cramming too many threads in the reed (causing vertical stripes), or beating spaces in between weft picks (or both!).  I really had a fun time weaving these, and didn’t anticipate the end result after washing.  Some of them I really had to cross my fingers that I wasn’t weaving fishnets…though that might not be a bad idea either.  There’s a lovely natural puckering when these come off the loom that relaxes in the finishing.  If only I could figure out a way to keep the loomstate effect after washing!
