Lightweight SS17

It’s taken a year to play with winter constructions, so I thought it time to focus on spring/summer lighter weight scarves.  I mainly used 18/2 and 20/2 cotton, and played with combinations of them together in the warp and weft.  I also had a few cones of what I assumed was a single-ply linen but it turned out to be ramie through an investigative comparison with a fellow weaver.  Alas!  I played with dent spacing, thick and thin yarns, and small textured patterns.  Out of this tester, I chose about 12 patterns to make larger samples of to study the drape, hand, and calculate the business aspects of moving forward to production.  It’s about a years’ worth of development in a months’ time.
