Kakishibu Dyed

My journey into finding kakishibu began after I experimented with my naturally dyed shibori pieces.  I really wanted to find an alternative for naturally dyed black.  Logwood or other natural dyes may achieve the look but not in a sustainable way that I want to support.  I’d rather not purchase dyes that are made from heartwood, or the center of the tree.  I came across this amazing blog about indigo growing, dyeing, and weaving textile workshops in Japan.  Along with countless great information about indigo, I read about kakishibu.  So now my quest has officially begun and it’s time to go darker!
