During my internship with the Cowtan and Tout / Larsen studio in 2008-9, I was privy to decades of yarns used in the development of their textile collections. Since the Larsen studio was moving to Paris at the end of my employment, I spent several days carrying home suitcases full of yarn, old dyes, and an entire art studio set up for my home. If I’ve learned anything from my days in nyc, it’s that when people move and businesses close, the generosity of those organizing such events is unparalleled. Time is of the essence and luckily, I had the foresight to covet these beautiful little ikat dyed silk bobbins.
